• Prevent

    Prevent Duty falls under the Government’s anti-terrorism strategy and has three main objectives

    • respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism and the threat we face from those who promote it;

    • prevent people from being drawn into terrorism and ensure that they are given appropriate advice and support; and

    • work with sectors and institutions where there are risks of radicalisation which we need to address.

    MakeUK has a legal responsibility to monitor and report events or behaviours that indicate members of its learning community are involved in activities directly linked to terrorism or are involved in the recruitment or radicalisation of learners for the purpose of terrorism.

    If you have been approached by or suspect a colleague of being involved in activities that involve terrorism, then please contact a safeguarding lead, your group tutor, assessor, the Police or your employer immediately.
